“Sathilai Chithi” recounts the tale of a man who made the decision to leave his native country, Nepal, in pursuit of better employment opportunities abroad. He held the belief that earning a decent livelihood in Nepal was challenging. Motivated by the desire to improve his financial prospects, he embarked on a journey to a foreign land.
However, his plans took an unexpected turn, and he found himself facing difficulties. Everything went smoothly until he fell ill, leading to his dismissal from his job. Unable to work, he struggled to survive, having failed to save or invest any money.
In this foreign place, he reflects on his homeland, Nepal, realizing that he might not have been homeless and unemployed if he had stayed. Regretfully, he hadn’t kept in touch with his elderly parents back home since going abroad. Now, faced with adversity, he writes a letter to a friend, detailing his hardships, the financial mistakes he made, and the harsh realities of life that befell him. He expresses his determination to return to Nepal, promising to utilize his skills passionately to make amends.
