Rara Bhraman Summary
“Rara Bhraman,” a diary-style narrative included in the Class 11 Nepali syllabus, translates to “Rara Travel” in English. The text recounts the author’s journey to Rara Lake and the experiences along the way.
The diary commences with the author and a six-member team waking up at 3:30 in the morning on June 7, 2077. They embarked on a jeep journey from Gulmi to Ras, passing through Redi and enjoying pakodas, chukauni, and tea at Palpa’s Jordhara.
The author marvels at the captivating beauty of Rara Lake, covering an expansive 10.8 square kilometers and surrounded by lush, evergreen hills. Departing from Butwal at 9 o’clock, they reached Kohalpur by 4 o’clock in the evening, and later arrived at the bus park at night.
On June 7, 2077, the team left Surkhet at 5 o’clock in the morning, reaching Jitegadh on the opposite side of Karnali. The journey to the resort, located in the Salleri forest and passing through the Rara National Park check post, took approximately an hour and a half by jeep.
Waking up at 5 o’clock on June 10, 2077, the team set out to explore the natural beauty of Rara. They walked five kilometers around the lake and documented various events in their diary. The author highlights Sinja Valley as a historic site where a river irrigates picturesque settlements and fertile lands. Rara was eventually reached after an hour-long walk from Salleri forest through Pinagaun.
