Freewriting is also called ‘automatic writing’ because it is a continuous process of writing which is free from spellings, grammar and topics.

d.How can freewriting overcome ‘writer’s block’?

Critical thinking
a.How does the author persuade readers in this essay? What is he trying to communicate to the readers?Ans: In this essay the writer speaks in favour of freewriting. It is difficult, we face many obstacles, which might discourage us to continue our writing but we should not give up. Sometimes we do not get any words to write and there may be complete halt but the writer tries to persuade the reader saying that whatever comes to your mind write it, repeat the words many times but do not stop. The writer tries to communicate with the readers, when he says listen to your voice and continue your writing.
b.Elbow said, freewriting “is an exercise in bringing together the process of producing words and putting them down on the page.” Do you agree with his statement? Why? Why not?
Ans: Elbow said “Free writing is an exercise in bringing together the process of producing words and putting them down the page. Yes, I agree with him because writing is not a haphazard. process. It is not just a scribble. Although it is difficult, it continues when we start, it. It is a systematic process of producing a meaningful piece of writing. Just putting down the words to fill the page does not make a coherent piece of writing. But when we brainstorm, collect ideas and go on writing we are habitualed to it. We should never postpone or give up writing. Regular habit of writing reduces editing and makes our writing natural.
